I got a GL Zetec Sport with a tach
1st 34 @ 6500 2nd 55 @ 6500 3rd 81 @ 6500 4th 110 @ 6100 5th the govener wont let me find out
I found this out with a bad O2 sensor. The lower speeds are off by one or two cause I go through them so quick. But 3rd and 4th are positive. If you don't have a tach i won't recommend it.

Just a note:
If the theory holds true that your speed in 4th gear @ 2750 (half of 5500) can be doubled to give you the approx. speed at 5500 rpm, I'd wager to bet 4th gear @ 5500 should equate to ~103 mph - 51-52 was indicated by my tach at 2750 in 4th. No good chance to actually hit 5500 recently.

i don't think you needed the sport option to get the tach. if you got the "power package" which included power windows and doors, you also got a tach, but no foglights.
if you got a sunroof, they would through in a tach.
the packaging system made absolutley no sense in those days. and why they would make a manual transmission car without a tach is beyond me. without a speedometer i could understand, but a tach? so you're assuming that the non-performance oriented person purchasing the car would have enough knowledge of where to shift just by 'listening' for the shift points. com'on Ford...get real!!!

I have a sliding sunroof, although it's not factory. It broke on me one day while it was open(I was going 75mph on the freeway), and it flew off into the stratosphere. I got lucky, because it's not a factory sunroof. A factory replacement glass was around 400$, and I got mine for 89$.

I have power windows etc without a tach... maybe they didn't bundle them together for atxes. As for hearing shift points, I think most stick drivers do pretty well with it by ear, even if they don't have perfect pitch, like I have. (middle A = 6600 RPM for a 4 cyl)
96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth " mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure
