ALso, we are more than happy to take your offer for a rewrite of the instructions. smile

I left the bracket where it was basically because I didn't feel like undoing the engine mount bolt again... Is this a difference between pre-98s and 98+es? Should the instructions say to face it the other way on pre-98s?

The part I had the hardest time with was getting the filter over the MAF. I had to wipe silicone lube on the fitting surfaces. Is this bad? What should the instructions tell people about this -- what should they avoid and what is an okay measure to use?

96 GL Zetec ATX, white with pinstripe, nickname " Sam Smooth "
mods so far: CTA intake with homemade heat shield, KVR drilled front rotors & carbon pads w/ 500° fluid
planned mods: exhaust (want to keep it quiet), e-ram (awaiting installation), diablo chip
involuntary mods: compression increased after head gasket failure

In regards to the bracket, We install them in whichever direction suits the individual vehicle. Some are closer to the fender, some closer to the engine. It depends on what works out best.

The filters are a tight fit. The next sizes up are too large for the MAF and would fall off. This was the comprimise. Yes, it is tight to put on but it does work better than the larger one that would fall off the MAF. Wiping silicone on the surfaces or a little bit of lubricant is a good thing. It does make it easier to put on. We have found that the protectant that is already on the rubber, was enoough to allow the filter to slide over the MAF.
