  Do me a favor, please?

First, make sure you have the ?Defined Ford test results file? installed.

Next, hook up to your car and establish the connection.

Go to the ?Test? tab and hit the ?Request? button.

End teh conenction, save the results, and put the file somewhere online where I can get it.

I'm particularly interested in the ?EGRUPHDIS? and ?EGRDNHDIS? results.  I have a known EGR issue with my car, and I am wondering whether the results I get are similar to what I'd get on a car with a healthy EGR system.

There's some discussion of my results in my reply in this thread.

I should have clarified something that ought to be obvious, but isn't. The .LOG file, buy itself, contains very, very little information. Most of the data is in the corresponding .DAT (This message originally said ?.BIN?, but that was an error, now edited out.) file. It takes both of these files to read the data.

I just sent you a bunch of stuff confused
You'll have to wait until it get to around set 40 in the playback before the info will appear on my scan for the test results to appear.

Yeah, that's it. This is very interesting.  In my car, with a known EGR issue, one or the otehr of the two tests, ?EGRUPHDIS? or ?EGRDNHDIS? always passes, while the other always fails, because both get a result which is valid only for one.  In the data you sent me, both tests fail, because the value returned is not valid for either.

Assuming your car has no EGR issues, this would seem to indicate that the tests are not entirely relevant to our cars.

Glad that worked for you. Please excuse my ignorance, I should of realized that, DUH!!
I'd assume that is doesn't have that issue. the program has never given me a code when I request one. I don't understand why those two fail and the other EGR readings pass...

Plus what does it mean that my CATRAT2 failed? (I'm still trying to figure out what all these mean)

JPett wondered:

It means that your Bank 2 catalytic converter is screwed.  But don't worry about that, because you don't have a Bank 2 catalytic converter.  This is rather similar to the reason that you are probably seeing massive failures on cylinders five through eight.

My point in starting this thread is to wonder whether my failing EGRUPHDIS/EGRDNHDIS results are the same sort of thing, or whether they reflect actual problems with my EGR valve (which I already know to have problems).  Since your car, with no known EGR issues, also produces failing EGRUPHDIS/EGRDNHDIS results, I think I have my answer.
