This morning i start the car and got a strange tick or click. Sounded like it was in the timing belt area anyideas second time this year and only when cold and sat overnight. Any ideas ont what it could be any help appreciated

You are correct Sir...HAA.It is the timing belt. They tend to hit the top ov the cover when they are cold,no worries Worry if it does it all the time.

thank you much appreciated got a little scared about that is normal i only got 38000on the ticker or is it just a trate on all zetecs

Some do it ,some don't. Mine doesn't. Just keep an ear on it.

Is there a revised timing belt cover for the 95 zetec engine.

If it does it all the time get it into a shop and have them look at it. The dealership I took it to put some washers inbetween the timing belt cover and the engine. Cheap way out, but got the job done.

Mine has done it for 2 years now. Just like you said, every once in awhile, and only when cold. No problems yet. Im not too worried.

What happens if it does it all the time? Does it mean that you need a new timing belt?

I would definitly take it to a garage if it doing all the time it is possible it maybe on its way out

mine did it all time so i replaced my timing tensioner,I also replace my belt it just made sense replace one might as well the other especially when they go hand in hand.. also what weight oil r u using? that also can be a problem. I had a 10w30 and it would make clicking noises untill the oil got distributed throughout my engine so I went with manuf.Req. 5w30 no more clicking
