Im wondering how all you guys (without chips and U.S. spec models) are breaking 110. Car and driver did a test of a 98 ztec w/ATX and the top speed was goverened at 105. I had mine going down a LONG downhill stretch in Kentucky and 105 was it. Plenty of revs left,but the car kept bouncing off of 105mph.

I hit 110 on a long stretch in Kentucky, I've gone over 105 (as in 106, 107 indicated) a couple times. Never been able to get it over 110. Woulda liked to try my last time through Kentucky, but it was raining something terrible most of my way through the state.

I had my car up to an indicated 115. I doubt it was that fast though.

Are you still running stock tire sizes?

I am running the stock 15" wheels with stock size tires, I believe 205/65/15.

Hmm.. Trying to remember.. I think I had just put on 215/50-R16's when I hit 110.

stock is 205/60/15. I think you got a speedo error on those bigger tires.

.9% too fast. So I would be doing like 109 instead of 110.

And 205/60-15 may be stock, but it's an optional size. 185/70-14 is the tire that the speedo would be calibrated for. With that size, my speedo would be 1.1% too slow.

I'm just trying to figure out the real deal with you guys because without a chip that car aint going over 105 no matter what the speedo says. Or could the MTX's have different governors?

110 indicated here, too. I don't know why you'd have a different governor because of tranny. I've never heard anyone bounce the speed limiter @ 105 before...strange
