I have beaten my friend with a 96 neon stock and a friends sisters 2000 neon both at the track.

Beat my wife's minivan while getting on the freeway in N.M. one time (yes, she was trying).

Beat a current model Gran Prix w/ 3.2L ATX. Then he turned on traction control, turned around and beat me (not by much, though)

I find this a little hard to believe...was your speedo actually reading 120. I guess its explained by speedo error. Don't get me wrong, I have faith in this car but even with a chip that bumps the speed limiter this would be tough to achieve for a lightly modded Zetec.

Why is that? A standard Mondeo Zetec will do 130MPH easily (the speedo will read higher than this obviously), V6 will do 140MPH and the ST200 (equivalent to the SVT) will do 145. These figures are for the saloons (with a separate boot/trunk); hatchbacks or estates (station wagons) are slightly less due to aerodynamics. Automatics are significantly less but are quite rare in the UK.

What are the book figures for the different contours?

The biggest problem is the speed limiter...

Don't the Zetec Mondeo's come stock with more HP than ours?
SVT's are drag limited to 143 though some have hit higher. V6's here are speed limited to about 120 IIRC. I think the car can do it with a couple mods(firstly a chip) and, of course, an MTX. Or, more mods with an ATX. Mine will run right up to about 108 but the limiter kicks in and nothing. I'd like a chip but that wouldn't go well with a turbo so... My $.02

I have taken my friends Neon multiple times. Every time he denies that I beat him (CEL came on, missed a shift, etc). He has a `95 Neon with the 2.0 SOHC, ATX, 3" exhaust, high flow cat, and 17's with Nittos.

He and I were playing with a late `60s Mustang at about 100 on the freeway a few months back. We both punched it, I was pretty proud of my little Zetec, until 108.

It hasn't had much racing lately, maybe its time for a new mod?

Well I have a superchip. I have put BNM gauges in but they are very accurate. I put them in before I got the chip and the rev limiter kicked in at the same point 108. First day I got it the rev limiter never kicked in. You want to know my mods just PM me. 120 is quite smooth in my little Zetec. It might go faster, I will have to try That is my .02.

UMMMM you don't have to have a chip to go past the speed limiter if you have a MTX stay in 4th till you hit the speed limiter and then shift to 5th. also works on the v6 too.
