What was your choice in selecting the Zetec over the Duratech? For me it was 2 things. I didn't think the V6 was all that much more powerful than the 4, and the 4 is so much easier to work on. How about you?

Partially because, mated to the MTX, it did feel almost as powerful as the V6, and partially because it was a buttload cheaper.

Agree with the cheaper factor. It is also cheaper to maintain and also cheaper in gas costs. And it is what my wife made me get.

Well, the first time I saw my future car, it was sitting on my street for sale, just like it was meant for me. I just figured a 4cyl would be enough for me. No sense in laying out all that extra moolah.

I traded for a V6, and the gas costs difference is not as bad as I thought. I went from 25.5 mpg to 24 mpg, average.

Price. The V6 was about $3-$4000 more than the Zetec. Plus my truck died and I couldnt wait! Still glad I got the Zetec.

I knew nothing about Contours at the time. I walked into the dealer and saw the car and I liked the color and the shape. It had the Zetec and I thought that was the only engine. Price wasn't a factor. I didn't know better. I love my car though.

FWIW ther are more tuning parts out there for the Zetec than the Duratec, mostly from Europe as the engine is popular with clubs & weekend racers not to mention the army of kit car builders that use them.Lets hope with the Focus we may have access to more Zetec parts in the USA,its a damm good motor!
