For what its worth, Ford has officially announced it is bringing the 4-door Focus hatchback to the US in 2002.

Ford Focus 5-Door ZX5

If I bought a hatch, it would definitely be a 4 door hatch.

The rear end is practially identical to the current 3-door ZX3...

That would be a 5 door.... When dealing with a hatchback, the "trunk door" is considered a door too !!!

For instance, we have the Focus 3-door and now the focus 5-door...

that's how they do it.. at least in Europe... correct me if i am wrong...

My cousin in Madrid (Spain) has a '99 ZX5. Definitely an interesting car. He gas the 1.6 liter Zetec. I think it makes 110 HP.

Now if Ford would sell the ZX3 RS and the Focus 2 door coupe over here they would do well. The 2.3 liter Duratec HE is an option that would do well here. I am getting tired of waiting.

Finally, it looks like the Mondeo will reappear in North America as the Mystique. Ford gets the Focus and Mercury gets the Mondeo.
