Is there any upgrades available for the Zetec MAF? Can it be changed/upgraded with one from another ford i.e. focus?

Don't know about the availability of such a part but I think you should get some feedback on how to introduce more fuel into the mix as well.

If you only do an intake upgrade, it may cause you to run lean and then some of the performance may be compromised.

I like the idea and would like to know a working solution.

Dont bother with the MAF or larger throttle bodies. Its the resonator above the TB and the rest of the plumbing that is killing your airflow.

Sort this out and its worth up to 25HP (seen on my local Dyno, with a Focus with a custom intake). Thats with the 60mm TB and standard MAF

Laminar fast flow is more important to the Zetec than volume. Larger flow means lower velocity and more turbulent flow and less power. you want long smooth fast flow

MAdmole's right. At this point the TB and MAF are not the problem and would hinder perforamance.

They will be needed for turbo, SC, or very high HP outputs.

Ok then if MAF and TB for the zetec is not going to solve anything, then if I got the super chip and MAF upgrade, does that make any sense?

What can I do to get that 25hp from resonator side.

P.S. Laminar flow is ???? I need a technical dictionary!

Thanks in advance!

There is an intake available from SCA that does eliminate that huge box above the throttle body.

Laminar flow is when the air flows as a single mass with all the air streams parrallel and laminar. Turbulent flow is when the air is stired and tumbles and bounces around in a tube, like the Zetec Resonance chambers

The engine needs certain mass of air. You can take it down a thin, long and smooth tube as fast laminar flow (Good) or stick on a wider tube, which means the air flows slower and has more chance of becomming turbulent (Bigger TB and MAF)

The 60mm TB and MAF can flow more than enough air for a Zetec up to about 200BHP, then you can start to think about bigger units. Better to get the airflow sorted first

So, what type of MAF is stock 98 zetec! Do I want to increase or decrease stock size! Or is the stock MAF all i'll need? Thanks a bunch for the responses!!!

So I take it that this long silver tube (shown above), being as short as possible with no coil like restrictions actually help flow? I have seen these on Hondas!!!
