What is the engine whine that developes after about 4000rpm. Is it the alternator or the timing belt or something else?

Don't know. I have it. chrisb has it. Sounds like a turbo under the hood I replaced the serpentine belt and it still does it. Sorry I couldn't help.

I have noticed it too. I have even had people ask if I have a turbo. Oh well.

I think it's reaching the RPM's that make the most power. Zetec's are high reving engines. Mine has a noticable power increase after a certain RPM and that whine starts to develope.
