My ATX redlines at 6500 RPM in any driving gear. In park or neutral it redlines at 4000 RPM due to the Rev limiter.

Mine hits 5,500 with the pedal to the floor before it shifts to the next gear. Something is wrong with that car if it will only go to 3,500.

what do i do?

Only 1000 RPM in park? The car idles around 800. Barely touch the gas and it's at 1000. If that's all it does your car is foobared.

Put the shift lever in 1st when you're at a stop and then just go. Redline should come at 42mph. 3500RPM would come at 22mph. Report your findings. It won't shift out of first, it'll let you bounce of the rev limiter all day long.

its like at 30 somthing in 1st.... and i can go to 70 i think in 2nd.... but i havnt gone higher inf ear of blowing up.

30mph in 1st would be a little over 4500RPM... 35MPH is 5500RPM..


70mph in 2nd would be a hair under 6000RPM...
6500RPM would be 77mph.

You're getting over 3500RPM.

Seeing as this topic has taken a slight turn into an ATX discussion...I thought I'd mention that the above specs are for a MONDEO...the Contours specs are going to be slightly lower thanks to the EPA. FYI!!! HTH TTYL

yeah, maybe , i think the tachometer i put in my car might be reading wrong, i have the wire ur supposed to hook to the "coil" in the middle wire that comes off of it... but i dont know....
