i posted here cause i know the zetec guys would be interested...

i posted in the pics one because i wanted the svt and other duratec guys to see and give me their opinions...cause i know they could give 2 craps about a zetec...and i pretty much expected a smart - a$$ reply from a svt guy like that...sorry to take up your time man...and all that space in the other forum...and dont give me the bandwith issue when there is 500 posts on here in the off topic forum that 9 out of 10 guys could care less about...i mean be serious...

Anyways, your point about the off-topic forums is completely irrelevant. It is named "Off topic" for a reason. A reason for which you should be able to figure out on your own. But if you need help, just ask. Other than that, please refrain from trying to make this into a Zetec vs Duratec vs SVT battle. That isn't the case at all....

What does it matter to you? A Contour is a Contour regardless of the engine. If you don't like what he says then go elsewhere. No one asked you to read the posts in the Zetec forum.

t-red, you need to chill. you're doing the same thing as you claim he is. you're posting stuff in the zetec forum for no reason. no one asked you to come to the zetec forum when you have an svt contour. if you thought it didn't pertain to the subject, you should've refrained from replying. that was a waste of bandwidth, as you're so worried about preserving. and trust me my man, there's plenty of it around, if you haven't noticed. a contour is a contour is a mystique is a mystique. they're all the same car with just different items bolted in different locations. we're all a family here. i never visit the picture forum, so i was pleased to gawk at his zetec when i came here. i know im rambling, but people like you who think you're all high and mighty really tick me off. :rolleyes:

Are all Contours one in the same, or not. Your first quote differentiates them, your second lumps them together. Which is it?

Last I checked, the description for this forum did not include a notice about "NO SVT OWNERS ALLOWED." If he wants to post, so be it. His first post, "DOUBLE POSTER!" was said jestingly, then everyone hops all over him.

Who's fault is it that ya'll don't look at the picture and video forum? I get annoyed at hopping around to different forums just to see the same thing posted in several different places. Whether it be a picture or a question, it makes no difference. It's called cross posting and is generally regarded as a poor display of netiquette ( and here -- don't tell me there isn't anything there about web bulletin boards, you'll just make yourself look silly)

I'll throw some fuel on the fire. I've owned three Contour, including a Zetec, so I've gotta be qualified|allowed|whatever to post here.

The SVT is a better car!

Now calm down, here comes the rabbit punch. Your car does not make you who you are, it's just a thing you have. (No not that thing)

Buying an SVT Contour in no way makes you a better person than someone who buys a 200KMile 95 GL Zetec or whatever.

It is how you treat other people, do your job, take care of your family, your belongings, the planet, etc that does a better job of defining who you are.

So don't feel bad or envious if you don't have an SVT. And don't think that what you have makes you what you are. They are two entirely different things.

However, if you let "what you want" get out of hand, it can make "what you are" a very bad thing.

Hmm, sorta looks like a ZX2, which if I recall has a ZETEC in it! So, I do own an a Zetec, which by your standards gives me the right to be here, correct? Open mouth, insert foot. And, before you say, "It is an Escort, not a Contique", read the heading for this forum. I believe it says "Zetec Engine".

And as far as all you people that think we are all "High and Mighty" because we have SVT's, get a life. A bunch of the guys here in the Florida CEG have either SE's, GL's and even a YA Mystique, so get real. It isn't a matter of supremacy, like you would lead us to believe.

The SVT is just a hopped up run of the mill Ford rental car and grocery getter. The rest of the Contours are just rental cars.

Who's the sucker? The one that paid $23,000 for a hopped up rental car, or the one who paid $11,000 for a plain ole rental car?

I figure I have about 18-20K in the three Contour's I've driven over the past 39 months.

The only smart way to buy 'em is used, regardless of SVT or otherwise.

The last deal was trading my 99SE plus $2700 for the 98 SVT.
