Actually my rad was flushed! The reason my thermistat sticks open when it does stick is because it is a fail-safe thermistat. My thermista has just reached the end of its life. Instead of sticking closed and temps going sky hi and blowing engine, the thermistat is designed to stick open and coolant runs more and temp gage reads low temp! (Still not good) This will eventually distroy your waterpump with too much usage!Instead of me doinmg another flush and replace the thermistat now, I am just doing a test to see if there is in fact a cheaper alternative to fixing the thermistat from sticking. But 600km+ and still no problem with thermistat sticking after Dura Lube cooling system add. cool

actually if you read the bottles carefully you realize they reduce engine temp if you were running pure water only. They do not make much, if any, claims for temp reductions for antifreeze mixtures. I have to wonder how close they are to soap which is a excellent surfactant but might cause foaming at temps?

Water is a better coolant than antifreeze.

The bottle itself praises the lubrication aspect. The cooling is suposed to be a bi-product. I have a couple thousand kms and still no sticking of the thermistat. Could just be coinkydink but KNOCK KNOCK (wood)But yes, I do agree that water is the best for cooler temps but as a lubricant...... confused Thats where Dura lube cooling system stuff comes in. Like I said the thermistat does not stick right now and next year when I get the rad flushed again, I'll get the thermistat changed also. But since the rad was just flushed I am trying to see if I can get thermistat to last. So far, so good!!!! cool

Yes, water is the best cooling system coolant but need the anti freeze for obvious reasons. As to the thermostat sticking, this should never occur. As to the pump working harder with it open, the pump is running all of the time, never off so it makes no difference on pump longevity. Get the thermostat replaced and sticking should never occur with a clean system and coolant.

I tried Water Wetter also, no noticeable diff .
