This sounds like something I want to do. To clarify, all you did was extend where the stock intake takes in air behind the driver side headlight to behind the mesh grill on the bumper?? If you have any pics that would help. Thanks.

by the sounds of it, this is what comes with the K&N filters as standard over here.
I have some 3" flexable tubing which they supply, one end at the bottom of my car, the other by the filter.
Is this what your talking about?
And as for emissions, stop talking sh!it!!!

BTW, it does make a slight difference performance wise.
put it on, try it, then tape it up. my car was slower.

are you guys all running the hosing behind the bumper, or did any of you make a scoop? i ran the tubing under my car, and don't know what to use for the scoop. do you recommend running it to the bumper instead? also, wouldn't running it behind bumper instead of running it to the bottom of the bumper under the foglight create a 90 degree bend? also, did you guys have to cut that plastic shield under your bumper? hope you guys understand what i'm saying. thanks.

Hey guys,

This mod is still something I want to do but I'm still confused. SQPlus mentioned that possibly the air would be too cold but then AA737-823 said that the colder the better. Eh, understand I'm in Canada and if colder is better I can manage to get air in the intake at -50 C wink

No but seriously it's pretty cold sometimes. I'm assuming that the wind factor has nothing to do since we are polling air not like the RAD.

I just though I'd add this. Last winter it was so cold that my Brothers Grand Am fuel lines were freezing. He has to put kleen flow in his gaz tank in order to continu driving normally. I was in the front with my Coutour and didn't even have a problem. They brag about their 150HP but they can't drive more than 50mph in the winter. smile
BTW, I still find Grand Am's are good cars, it's just funny!

Cold is good when it comes to intake charge.
As long as the fuel metering system can
deal with the dense air and add an
appropriate quantity of fuel then power
will increase as intake air temp is
decreased. In the good old days things
like carburettor icing could be a problem
and this is one reason that exhaust stoves
were used to preheat intake air.
