Mine always idles rock solid at 1000 rpm, unless the A/C is on then it sometimes climbs to about 1100 when the compressor cycles.

I had a really poor idle after having the trans replaced. The 'technician' (and I use the term loosly) didn't seal the air intake to throttle body properly. The idle was a rough 900, and when the A/C clutch engaged the revs dropped to 375-400 and the car sounded like it was going to detonate itself to death.

A little elbow grease to attach everything properly, including a PCV hose that wasn't attached, a relearn of the idle and all was well.
