What is the manifold to cat bolt flange on a Contour... 2 bolt or 3 bolt? If you used the ZX2 header, with the 2 bolt flange, would that bolt up to the Contour cat? BTW, a poor man's JBA header would be the stock Focus Zetec manifold... stainless steel 4 into 1 tube header, almost the same as he jba, exept the runners are smaller. I'm going to be trying this setup out on my S/R, and I'll be making flanges to adapt to the Focus header... my plans at the store include making a complete cat pipe (with cat & O2 sensor hookup) for the Zx2 between Focus header and ZX2 flex pipe connection. I could do the same for a Contour... but I need a car...sorry perry, this one couldn't be done long distance BTW, Perry... I'll be working on your stuff next week, so I'll be bugging you soon Rob

I forgot to even think about what the flange is on the ZX2. How all makes ZX2 headers? I haven't checked to see what the Contour has, gotta remove the heat shield and stuff to get to it. When I get the next intake prototype I'll rip that shield off and take some pictures so you can compare to what the ZX2 has. I contacted FocusSport about buying a set of the long tube headers to see if they would work on the Contour. They weren't willing to cooperate and let me return them if they don't fit. No thanks, not taking a risk on something that costs $400. (Seems like a small risk on their part -- let me find out and then they have an additional market to sell to) I wouldn't be willing to sign their waiver with VIN and license tag number saying that the car would only be used off-road. Since they don't wanna play nice I'll have to keep shopping and mark them off my list of shops to do business with. Hmm.. maybe I can convince one of their dealers to play nicely with me. BAT is nice enough to let me return them if they don't fit, but since I know they won't fit I'm not going to bother.

Perry, did you ever get that zx2 intake pipe installed? That's what Rob is talking about... He's going to be working on it this week. Stupid Ford. Making my life difficult. I just need some stinkin long tubes. I was about to hop on the group buy going on at ZX2 Racing Rob, you know of anyplace that sells long tube headers that eliminate the cat, besides FocusSport? I'll just put one someplace else on the car. Mabye in the trunk or something.

Found an interesting one. Made by a company called Kamikaze. Linky linky If that link doesn't work, go here , click on search, then enter in ZX2. Install the eliminator pipe, hopefully it would be long enough to curve beneath the engine. Strap on a cherry bomb for the ride to the muffler shop to get it welded onto the catback (and hi flow cat -- something I'd probably do). I'll figure out what to do with my EGR system later. I'm going to find a solution that doesn't require fabrication. Hopefully someone out in Cali will step up and be a test mule so I don't drive myself nuts searching around.

Perry, Have you contacted Kamikazee about fitment/returns on those headers? I'm guessing that pic is a generic pic they use for all ads. Not the real product. I doesn't look tall enough to clear the engine by the pic but if it's made for the zx2 it should be a similiar fit right? Its still a Zetec right? Unless maybe the oil pan was a different shape or something.

Importparts.com will let me return them as long as I don't mess them up trying to make em fit.
It is a "stock" photo of the header, same thing is shown for Hondas and other cars.
I'm thinking that the down pipe is just going to eliminate the cat, not actually go under the car any. I'll have to get the down pipe welded up to my cat back where it bends up to the cat exit flange/pipe thingie. Crawl under there and take a look, you'll see what I'm talkin about.
I'll try and take a couple pictures of the installation process when the stupid things finally get here. Ceramic coated was out of stock and I wasn't willing to get chrome in the interest of getting them two weeks quicker.
I'll probably get a high flow cat welded up where the resonator should be. Partly for environmental concerns (not emissions, it's just that I don't need my own personal ozone hole) but mainly for a little more noise control. I have a feeling it'll be loud.
