Ok... Monk... You bring your European spec Escort or Mondeo's over here .. ****With a full tank of your European petrol**** Which is ten times more potent than our is( And higher octane).. And cost about twice as much to boot.. And sure.. You'll get to 130 no problem.. European specs usually don't have speed limiters in their cars.. Just like japanese cars..(In Japan).. No limiter and all power.. No emissions restrictions or heavy laws..(Damn Congress and Politicians..) I just wish I could import a European spec Mondy over here and let everyone oogle at the fact that it will do fabulous things.. But not on our gas it wont..lol OK... and just food for thought.. Contour97GL and Ets_4rds.. you are a team obviously..Cause you back eachother up.. But answer me this one question.. Have you ever taken your Zetec to 130?? You never stated that you did... Only that you believe it could.. Just because the speedo reads 130 doesn't mean it will reach there.. So please tell us the truth... Have you or haven't you? Touche'! Dom

Yes, our American (water)petrol is only good for lawnmowers and chainsaws..Maybe that's why the Honda's run so good??? (Expecting to get flamed out of this world now..lol...Where's Infuryium? )Anyhow.. 119 is not bad.. Top speed that I could believe for 130 hp is probably 120. That's about all you are going to eek out of that small Zetec. I don't think that there is anyone else on this board (In the US) that has been able to top 120 or 121mph.. That's it. The SVT's don't have a speed limiter and they have 70 more horsepower and can only manage a mere 20-25mph more.. because of sheer wind resistance.. Go ahead- Open your sunroof at 120 and stick your head out.. I dare ya.. That'll teach some people real quick about the properties behind wind resistance.. :p Dom

I have a question, could the people who have done over 110 in their Zetec's please tell me the location of their car's manufacture?
I have been thinking, and was wondering if maybe the contours manufactured in mexico have a higher top speed, mine was built in the US, just a thought....

The Molemobile (94, 2.0L Zetec) has a lap chart from Brands Hatch with 136mph on it. K&N, fse, suspension and exhaust only. US Contours have to contend with A/C, ATX, low RON petrol, crap rubber and low speed limits, and knobbled engines Mine cruises at GPS 120mph (5500rpm) on the autobahn, and I have taken her off the speedo (indicated >150, 5th at ~7500rpm) which just made a loud ticking noise at the stop, at Brands. (Not a recorded lap so no official speed on that one :()
Mad Mole Visit Mad Moles Mondeo Madness 2L Zetec, Cams, Stage 2 head, Valve work, Powerflow, Unichip, AEM Ram, K&N, Ecotek, 75mm Lower etc. 192 BHP, Faster than a speeding Duratec!
