UUMM no..sorry this is OHIO..we dont look at KPH...ANYWAY...if a freakin 1.3 litre escort can do 120 (downhill or not) then I do believe my Contour can do 130..I challenge anyone to stop by North Canton if your ever in Ohio..look me up..and I'll prove it!! Look lass, i was nay saying you were lying, but the car cannot do that speed stock, did you buy it used, in that case maybe the previous owner did something to the limiter. All i know is that my Sport package Zetec pnly goes to 110, and if ANY Zetec is created more equall than others it should be one with the sport package shouldn't it?

LOL...Maybe she was lookin at KPH...210KPH that is....stock can do it...you just cant whip the engine all to hell like most ppl and prob alot of ppl on here do...its all in how the car is taken care of.....

Well my Zetec is completely unmodified, no changes from the day it rolled out of the Genk plant (apart from 80,000 miles) - standard air filter, exhaust, spark plugs everything. And it did 125 mph. On a flat level (empty) motorway. And not just once. And yes, it was *Miles* Per Hour (Kilometers - spit!). And that speed was read off a Magellan 310 GPS.

It's not that surprising surely, I had a 1.6 Austin Maestro that would do 115, and I had my Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 to 120 (130 indicated) regularly. Admittedly it took me most of Belgium and Holland to get to that speed, but it would then sit there for over an hour.

Your sweeping statement that a 'stock' Zetec won't do that sort of speed is not borne out by my experience.

The european and USA ones have different computers.....

The car is perfectly capable of doing 130 im sure, but MY computer limits ME to 110. Mine is a 97 GL with the sport package, the contour in question was also a 97 GL, mine has the sport package. Mine wont do anything over 110, until i mod it. Did Ford differ the cars that much, even with the same basic trim level of the same year?

You know what..if GOD himself told you that a 1997 GL would and could do 130 MPH (not KPH)..you still wouldnt believe it. Same computer or not..all cars are different...just leave it at that and move on..its not worth arguing about just becuase yours wont do it....

And yes you did say it went 130.."lol...i dunno..but something has to be wrong because my GL will go 130 and i dont feel a thing..no shaking or nothing. i dont even have any after market engine mods..so i guess youd want to get your problem checked..lol...because if my little GL doesnt have a problem, then i know your SE shouldnt" as I read along with everyone else.. Sure I'll bring my GPS and we'll see... 130mph in a Zetec?? Yeah.. wind resistance keeps most SVT's from doing more than 145... AND THAT'S WITH 70 MORE HORSEPOWER.. Please wake up.. you are in a dream world. Your Zetec is speed limited and weaving in and out of traffic (As I have been witness to) will only get you in trouble some day.. Why do you even post such lies? The only morons here are you.. because a true stock 2.0L does not have a strong power band in the high rev range.
