Well mine is a flogging 97 Zetec with the sport package, and its limited to 110.....

I know it will pull more with the limiter removed........

97 Zetec MTX Sport
Esslinger UDP; Nology HotWires and BERU Silverstones; Sylvania Silverstars (high beam in low beam)
Dual Fiamm air horns
Mk1 Mondeo Clear corners(and yes I made them fit....)
Boston FS80's in the front

Micah's PRE98 SVT front bumper, W/ Mirko splitter(yet to be painted)

Rally drivers do it sideways......

#1, the ZX2 guys have different wiring and a different computer. You cannot just cut the wire like they describe. It's been discussed a long time ago. #2, you have the difference between the MTX and ATX. Gearing, final drive, weight, etc. #3, the euro beasts are just that, different beasts. Different calibrations, different cars, different in lots of ways...you fellas have much more fun, accessories and all around better cars. laugh

Either way, I don't believe for one minute that an American model in Zetec format of any kind did 130 (even indicated on the speedo)

I agree with this completely!! But, I think it is definitely possible with a few mods, like exhaust/intake, superchip, and t/c laugh
But, stock, I mean get real......there isnt many American made 4-cyl that will do 120mph. If i'm wrong shoot me, but this is my opinion, if someone proves it to me, I will be more than willing to take back everything I said.
I mean I have a Zetec and know what it can and cannot do.

Hell, this past weekend at our Ferrari Challenge meet I was trying to chase down the SVT's and Duratecs in the bunch. Going up a small hill on the interstate the car would not go over 102 with the pedal floored. Just not enough power.

I'll second what flipper has said. I've done 125mph with just a K&N filter. And I did 120mph just the other day with a mate in the car racing some suzuki thing. It will do it easily.

y'all are morons!!! Did she say she could go 130 in like 6 seconds? No she didn't!!! It takes a while to get up there but she can get there. If you have a nice long stretch of highway you can get up some speed.Wouldn't it be funny to see your guys faces if one da she proves it and you "disbeleivers" feel like retards?

I'll bring my SVT and my GPS and ride right behind. Then I'll be the first to know if it's true. But, I still doubt 130mph is possible. The old Neons stopped at 117 with 150Hp. The fastest stock 4-cyl sold in America was the Chevy Bertta GTZ, with 180Hp and a 5-speed - around the 130 mark. No, never mind. There are Saabs that go faster, again with more power than the Zetec.
For what it's worth, Cartest shows 121mph for a Zetec Contour.

sure you weren't looking at KPH????

heh, i had a funny experience with my speed limiter last night, i was racing late 80's prelude along the freeway, i was pulling hard, but loosing ground, but i pulled into the fast lane ahead of him, because the other two lanes were full, i looked at my speedo and knew what was about to happen, the limiter kicked in, but HAHAHAHA he was stuck behind me, and the reason he ended up passing me was because there were road works and the freeway was closed, so he tore up and cut in front of a whole load of other cars while i slowed down and pulled in at the back of the line.... twas exciting especially since my from right was half flat....

For what it's worth, I was on my way from Flagstaff to Phoenix a couple of weeks ago in my 'tour and decided to have some fun in the twisties. Until that day, I had never pushed my car to the governor, so I really didn't know what to expect. Much to my surprise, she pulled relatively smoothly up to 110 (or so) when the governor kicked in. Keep in mind I was in 4th at about 5300 rpm. Just some quick estimation tells me that, barring a hurricane headwind, the car could probably do 130-135 sans governor. Someone posted the idea of installing a governor-bypass switch. I think I'll do that, head north and let you guys know what happens... cool
