Well it's finally done, I had an SVT exhaust(cat-back)installed on my tour friday afternooon. Cost $75 for install. Exhaust has to be extended to bolt up to Zetec exhaust and a passenger side hanger has to be welded on. Sound is great, nice rumble not 'wussy' sounding anymore. Cold morning start up is awesome, growls at idle. Once it heats up its a little quieter at idle but nice sound while accelerating. Not to loud at all. Seems to make my shifts smoother(ATX)and power is much smoother throughout each gear, instead of just at higher rpms. No reports on gas mileage yet as I have been driving it a little more aggressive than normal. there was a guy in seattle giving his SVT exhaust away. it has 5000 miles on it. but he will not ship it. you have to pick it up.
i would have gotten it a long time ago, but i'm in MA.

This exhaust is giving me a new found appreciation of COLD weather. Namely in the mornings when it's been below freezing, such a sweet sound. It just growls! Well as much a Zetec can growl anyway. It still rocks.
Just a note, I'll be going on an extended journey this weekend about 1400 miles round trip, we'll see how she helps/hurts my gas mileage on the way!...See ya soon!

Hey SQ- I have a 98 also. Is yours a SE? I have a zetec 98 SE MTX. Imagine if I had SVT exhaust, I could get leave it in 2nd just rumblein'! haha
How many miles and around how much. I got mine in NJ and I got it from my uncle as his dealership. l8er
