I put on a Dynomax Turbo muffler and I asked the guy if he'd put on a tip for me. Told me no because there would not be adequate clearance - the tip would touch the bumper and would melt it. Okaaaaaaay. So now what do I do? I am putting in a glasspack too and I want some sort of VISUAL accent for the exhaust, instead of just the audible one. Whoever has put on a nice tip, let me know how you did it.

By the way, I've got a chrome turn-down tip right now that I got from Murray's for about five bucks. It's already starting to rust. I want one that will fit onto my 1 3/4 outlet from my muffler and then will mushroom out to a 2, 2 1/2 outlet. I also want it to be a straight one, not turn-down. That would look awesome. Unfortunately, no tips out there have a 1 3/4 inlet. If you guys know where I can get one, let me know, please.

Thanks,

Joe

are you talking about the actual bumper or the black plastic valance at the back? i got a twin straight exit on mine, all i had to do was cut out a bit of the valance. no melting of bumper at all.

Yeah, I'm talking about the valence/bumper cover. You cut it? Can you send me a pic please? (Joemihalic@aol.com) I was thinking about doing it, but am concerned that it'll end up looking like trash. By the way, you took off your resonator in the intake, right? Did you just hacksaw it off? Did it make your intake a lot louder?

you cant really see it, bit of a bad photo, i'll get another one done soon.
as long as you cut the valance neatly, on-one will ever now, they will just think it is standard.
as for the resonator, when i fitted my K7n 57i, it comes with a new pipe which which replaces the pipe which leads off to the resonator (dunno what it's called) so i did'nt have to chop anything off.

Joe,

When I got my Flowmaster put on, I just had them angle the muffler down where the tip stuck straight out from under the bumper. There's about 1/4 inch clearance from the tip to the bottom edge of the bumper...

That looks clean, Andrew. I'm gonna ask them to do that when I get my glasspack installed. By the way, I settled on a Banzai round pre-muffler and if I knew how to use this UBB code, I would show you a pic. I got it at Carparts.com. The only problem is that it has 2-1/4" inlet/outlet, so they'll have to adapt it a bit. Oh well. It'll be here late this week - I can't wait! I listened to your audio clips and they sound sweet.

By the way, is that tip welded on?

Monkeyra - thanks for the info. I have the KKM, so I don't know if I am going to bother taking off that resonator. Although it seems so POINTLESS! I wanna just rip it off, but I don't see a good way of going about it.

Joe,

Yeah, it's welded on. It's a bolt-on tip from AutoZone, but I had the shop weld it in place.

Nice. I like it. I might go with a bolt-on/clamp one just because of the winter salt can destroy it. Unless I go with stainless steel - then it might be good.
