That's a good point.

But if I put something over it, wouldn't that completely destroy the point of making the engine bay look aftermarket?

We need a nice silicone or plastic intake hose set up from the TB to the the MAF. Keep the flow smooth and the temps low.

If you want the smoothest air possible, would it be a good idea to score the inside of the piping with long pararlell marks to straighten the air flow...

Help me out engineers, is that a good idea?

Maybe we could go with perry's hail dent aerodynamic model... j/k...
