Im sure when everybody throws a set of springs on the car they are so jaded on how money it looks they don't really think about long term. laugh For those of you who have been slamed with just a set of springs installed, has anybody run into any long term probs? frown Premature inside tire wear? Repeated alignments? Etc etc. Are these problems magnified with larger rims? My thoughts are consumed with "To slam... Or not to slam" and just wanted some feedback. All i know is when it snows 2 feet of snow up here in canada im not goin anywhere anyways.

I haven't had a problem with more tire wear, and the camber and caster where well within specs.
and i dont think there is a difference in camber w/ or w/o struts.
of course i don't know how these other guys use 17's and don't rub.
I rub with people in the back on my stock 16's.

Not one problem and i have had mine on for about nine months. Tires are fine my alignment is right on and looks and preforms wonderful. The only long term "disadvantage" is that it will destroy the stock struts. invest is some KYB AGX strust and you should be set.

HAd Eibachs on my SVT stock struts and just had to replace them with Koni's. Have 57k miles now and been blown since 45k-47k miles. Terrible ride quality and body roll. Bottomed out every speed bump and on dips on the freeway going 70+ mph. Not fun.

Yes, flat in the turns and rides very comfortable. I think more comfortable than stock because theres no nose dive or bucking under hard acceleration. Definitely worth it.

Mystikal, did it take long for your stock shocks/struts to blow out with the Eibachs? Do you think the new springs really shortened the life of your suspension?

Not sure how long they were on there but the guy who installed my Koni's said they had been on there for at least 30k. I can't imagine that the stock struts would have blown out that soon on stock springs. I put new Eibachs in just in case any damage had been done to them.

Ive had my Eibachs on my 98 SVTC for about 2 years. I had 17X8 Borbet wheels w/Nitto 555 225/40/17s installed at the same time. I bought the ShoShop adjustable rear control arms and had the car aligned back to SVT specs. Ive had no problems with tire wear in the 20,000 miles Ive put on it since then. I might get through this year with the same set of tires. However, I dont race this car much so the tires dont get worn excessively. My drivers side rear tire just barely rubs when the cars loaded with passengers. Otherwise it just looks great and handles great with no problems. Hope this helps, Rod K.

My 99 SVT has 48K on it, and I can say for sure the OEM suspension is very floaty now. I think the struts have pretty much worn out. The car also suffers from a vibration in the steering wheel @ speed. I have new wheels on the car, and my front rotors are original, turned at 42K. As a result, my SVT really lacks confidence at speed, hence I lack a confidence at speed!

So, my game plan includes: new rotors, checking the balance on my wheels ASAP, and getting some new springs/struts in less than 2 months.

I am going to do some research on what the best combo is for a daily driver:

BAT sport kit
HR/Koni
Eibach/Koni

The BAT kit has the right price, but I hear they are kind of crappy in the cust serv./order fulfillment area. I am thinking of doing a 22MM sway bar and some poly sway bushings while I am at it, and I think I'll have one nice handling car when I am done smile

PS: What was the verdict on those Mirko alum subframe bushings...any good/make a difference?
