I'm going to put new plugs in my wife's Mystique this weekend. I'm used to working on V8's where the back plugs are very hard to reach. This little 4-banger is like a wet dream to tune up! Everything is right there on top in plain sight! It's going to take longer to buy the plugs than replace them....
What I'm wondering is what type of plug would be the best? I'm thinking about Bosch +4's or maybe NGK? I've never used the Bosch before. Are they worth the price or should I just stick with simple Autolite plugs??
Thanks, Steve

I've used Motorcraft double platinums in my car with no problems. I don't think that Bosch makes a +4 for the Zetec. I feel that paying for anything more than Motorcraft is just a waste of money, unless you have a reason to get a different plug. ------------------ Perry Contour-L Admin 96 GL

I just called a local AutoZone store. He checked both the computer and the Bosch book and they don't list a +4 plug for the 2.0. I may just end up getting the Motorcraft platinum or the NGK platinum, both are about $3.99 each. I would think maybe the NGK would be better??

i put autolites in my dads car and that thing runs better on them, then it does on ngk or motorcraft. both motor craft and ngk have been in the car. the autolites are a double platuim plug. they work good. im running silverstone's nology makes them. they are made for a zx2. nology part number is S1K. those are 10 to 12 dollars a piece. hope this helps

Even if you could find them the Bosch +4 suck. Even Consumer reports said they do nothing. I have them in one car and they do nothing. Overpriced crap!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for the help guys. I ended up grabbing some Platinum Autolites. They were about $3.99 each. The store also had some double platinum NGK's that were over $10 each!! What a waste of money. Anyway, it was the fastest tuneup I've ever done! It took longer to put my tools away.
Thanks, Steve

Am I correct in assuming that all that is involved in a tune-up for these cars is a spark plug/wire change? Is there anything else that needs to be replaced, cleaned, tweaked?
