Does anyone know how to install a tachometer in the zetec? I don't have one, but I want to install one? Are the wires there, for a plug in?

I was wondering that myself. I'd like to install a small tach somewhere on the dash.

the wires are all there. i'll take a look at the tach i have and let you know which contact of the wire harness is for power/ground/signal. i might do that tonight or tomorrow.

Yeah, thanks! I figured the wires were there (why would ford use two separate guage wiring harnesses)

if you are looking at the BACK of the instrument cluster, you will see two wiring harnesses. a black one on the left (passenger side) and a white one on the right (driver's side). the white harness has all of the signals fr the tach and for most of the lights on the inst cluster. the signal or the tach should be Pin #8. which is the 8th pin up from the bottom of the harness. you can get power and ground from either the black or the white harnesses by tracing where the power and ground wires are for each guage pod.

Why not just get a cluster with the tach from a V6? Should plug in, same transmissions are used. At least one Mystique person I've seen posting has a cluster with tach in a Zetec car, and in Australia they have a tach for the Zetec.
