I painted the front light assembly and the back. The front was painted so that light would only come out of two circular holes for each headlamp. It looked okay but matching paint was hard and the freeway took its toll on the paint. It ended up getting little chips in it so the light would show through. I got rid of it and sanded and polished the paint off. It was SO hard. I don't recommend paint
As for the back lights. I first painted the back up lights clear red ( I have a 96 contour where the back up lights are a part of the rear reflector). Then I sprayed all the lights and reflector assemblies with another dose of clear red (Clear red paint can be bought at a model store, its made by Tamiya). This ended up tinting the lights and blanking out the reflective property of the reflector. Then I masked out one large circle for each brake lamp and one small circle for each reverse lamp and painted everything else a color very close to Toreador red. Then I clearcoated.
However, weather has taken a stronger toll that I thought and the back lights are starting to get a little discolored and a few flakes of light can be seen through the paint when the brake lights are applied. Don't know what I am gonna do. I may get vinyl decals to cover but then color matching is tough. I may just but two used brake lights and replace the whole deal.
