Anyone else experience a pretty rough idle? if so, how did you fix it? I am going to get new spark plug wires and maybe some new spark plugs.
BTW- the car has 45,000 miles on it and the spark plugs were just replaced about 10,000 miles ago.

See if you still have it when you turn the heat/ac to the 'off' position.

Yeah. I have it all the time but it is less when the heat/AC is off. It does diminish however when the car is in neutral or park. But once you put the car in gear, it starts shaking and NVH...
Any ideas?

Most Zetecs do go a little rough in ac/heat modeA(the a/c compressor does 'cycle' even in heat positions).If the trans fluid level is ok suggest you get the idle speed checked first.

I kind of have the same problem. But It does't start shaking it starts this wired sound of. after a little of gas. to about 1500 rpm it's steady with small breakes kind of like 1/16 rest in a song.

I also have this rattling when I hit the gas suddenly. Sounds like a heat shield or something that rattles. It makes a sound like someone taking a couple of marbles and shaking them in a soda can.

Idle speed check at the dealer,may want to look at mounts aswell.The rattle could be one of a hundred things,try to nail it down with it in gear,hood up ,need a helper.Regards TAH

i have the same problem when waitin at like a light of something.. car shakes a lil bit... when in N or park it doesnt do it anymore.. a while ago some1 told me to get a part checked for cracks the Tensioner Pulley ... go here http://contour.org/forums/Forum3/HTML/000846.html he explains hope it helps im thinking of doing this also.. -afr0 ill let ya know if i try it before you do ..its doesnt bother me that much cuz i just turn the bass up a lil bit and i dont even notice

I went to my ford dealer about a month after I got the car because of the rough idle, the guy in service said "it's a four cylinder, right." I said yes, he said "well that's your problem"
