Hey all what's going on? Been a while. I wanted to pass along a nasty rumor I heard. Second Creek is getting torn down. I have a friend who works for some sort of engineering company. He told me his company has been contracted to rip down the track. Maybe this is old news...

With this in mind I think it's about time for a Second Creek day. Would be nice to get 5 people who are gonna hit the track to get the discount? I've got two people who will more than likely go so we only need two more for the discount...anyone?

It's been a while since I've been on ANY board, work has been borderline ridiculous. I'll have to see what's new in Contour land. How's that turbo comin'?

My car is still bone stock except for a short shifter. Doing mufflers next and then suspension, hopefully by the end of this year. I'm trying to sell a home and buy a new place so money is kinda tight right now. Hope all is well with everyone.

Tony, nice to hear from you. A second creek day sounds like a good idea, but I seriously doubt I'll be able to make it before the summer ends. I have pretty much filled up all my weekends. frown
Also, check out the dyno section and see how that turbo kit came out. I think you'd like it. laugh

Friday till 5, Open Test & Tune. I'm thinking 3ish, just enough time for 3-4 spirited runs, more with shorter breaks.

Checked out the turbo...Schweet! So which CO-CEG'er is gonna be first?

Tony! Glad to see you're still around.

I might be able to make it...but not with my Contour. I just drove it 2500 miles to WI and back for the American LeMans race at Road America. Third gear is going crunch crunch if I try to shift it with anything but gentle care. It's ok on the street, but not in any type of hurry up situation.
I'll know more about what's going on later this week as I just got home about 30 mins ago from WI..

What dates can we go? Do you need any kind of certification, or safety items (helmet, etc.)? How much is it going to cost? I'd be very interested... once I know more about it.

The track is open every day, but most weekend days are already booked by either the SCCA or bigger car clubs. Test and Tune is an open day where it's run what you brung. You need a helmet of some sort; any motorcycle helmet will do, open or closed face. Besides wearing your seatbelt no other specialized safety equipment is required. The general idea on the track is no passing in corners and you can run till your wheels fall off.

Normaly it's $60 for 4 hours, but if you get 5 people together, you get one guy free so the price drops to $48 per car. This ONLY works w/multiples of 5 though... 6th guy pays $60

Second Creek is a fun track, not too fast (maybe 90 mph on the front straight) and you would have to do something really wrong to hit anything. A great track to learn on IMHO.

Alex, how was that race? I watched it on CBS, pretty good coverage. I love that track, almost as much as Road Atlanta. I have a friend with a full ride in one of the MBD Panoz's. They've got a wierd combo with the Panoz and the Mugen engine. Are you going to the Petit Le Mans in October? Let me know because I most definitely am. I hope we can get enough people for the discount on Friday. If not I will more than likely go anyway, I've got the itch.

The race was great. My first time to Road America and it lived up to, and even passed expectations. I've been down to Road Atlanta a bunch of times, but that was before the big renovation the did a few years ago. We're talking about going to Petite LeMans but nothing firm yet. Are you camping our or getting a hotel? The camping scene at R.Atlanta is cool. Lots of space there - I would reccomend bringing a bicycle to get around there. I had mine at R.America and it made a HUGE difference in being able to get around the place and get to all the good viewing spots.
Those MBD Panoz/Mugens were at the race- the cars sounded real good but nothing like the factory LMP01's. I took a bunch of photos at the race - I'll have them online some time later this week.

I'll know more about Friday in a bit. I'll post later today/tomorrow.

Alrightee, the general consensus so far is that this Friday is no good. Next Friday is good and I have commitments from two people so far.

One of these times we have to check out the track in Pueblo. I called this morning and it's Test & Tune all week until 5. $60 for a half day and $120 for a full day. Just like Second Creek, car clubs have the weekends booked.
