As to the TPS, since the ATX is computer controlled and highly dependent(it seems)on what the TPS tells the computer. While optimizing my TB a few weeks back a pulled off the TPS thinking it was something else and not knowing the TPS has to be set a certain way or it doesn't work...since then my car has had a MIL and began shifting extremely early under acceleration. The rest, as they say, is history...that TPS caused a serious problem somewhere and now my car doesn't seem to think it has a first or second gear, sometimes, on occasion, if the humidity is right, as long as the sun isn't shining directly on the passenger rear tire and my gas tank is at least 1/3 full.

Thats about how random the problem is.
