John, i know exactly what you're talking about. I can see the Santa Fe mtns from my driveway, and I noticed a huge cloud last night behind the mtns...thought to myself, "wow, that's a good cloud. is there rain in the forecast?" but then realized it's the newest nothern nm fire to hit us. frown I think there are something like 6-7 fires here in NM currently burning. Sucks.

Fire
FYI
Here's a list of the big fires across the nation. I don't think the smaller fires make this list.

My girlfriend lives in Glenwood, about half a mile from the community center. She and her family had to evacuate Saturday night. They didn't go home until Tuesday morning, but they have been home ever since. Some people I know from church also had to leave, but they are all home safely now. A couple of the people that work for the bank I work at lost their homes. They lived in the trailer park that burned. It was a very long weekend, needless to say.

My sister's new house is currently 10 miles from the Hayman fire. She lives near Pine Junction, and they are currently on evacuation alert. My house is about 15 miles from the Hayman fire too. We're safe here from the fire.... byt I am really worried about her house. They just had it built, and have been living there for less than a year. In addition to all this, my new niece or nephew is expected to be born Monday or Tuesday. The fire could hit their house while she's in the hospital. Hopefully, the High Meadow fire from 2000 will protect their place.

Wow - Tait, and Mines (sorry, I don't know your name) good luck! Keep up hope. There are clouds in the skies, so it just might rain! *fingers crossed*

Severely being affected right now. The house and work smell like smoke/campfire. Some ashy fallout came today as today has been the worst. Woodland Park is on standby and one of our deployed guys lives there. Two of my coworkers are up there right now removing valuables to include his truck. We'll see!

About 80 miles or so from the Academy but nothing compared now to the rapidly growing arsonistic fire in Arizona, 120K Acres so far!!
