I picked up a nail in one of the G Forces on my 00SVT. It was repaired but I was told about half the tread was worn on the tires at 11,000 miles. I was also quoted about $150 a tire to replace the tires. I don't think I've ever squeeled these tires although I do like how the SVT corners in the twisties. The thought of spending $600 every 22,000 miles for tires strikes me as a bit high. Any of you found any alternative tires that give similar performance at a lower cost?

there are lots of tires that work wonderfully with the SVT- the 205 55 R16 or 215 50 R16series tires are some of the most plentiful on the market- I like bridgstones- potenzas usually any of the UHPAS tires that Tire Rack lists- why dont you try them- tirerack

Off to the tire section for this thread . . .

It's all about balance.

I recommend either the BFG G-Force KDW's or Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Position's.

Nothing will compare to these two tires in performance & price.

I recommend 225/50R16 for the size.

Like stated: Tirerack is the only place to shop...

215/50R16 is an odd size and they are not plentiful... Tirerack only lists 3 tires in that size... try either 205/55R16 or 225/50R16, much better selection...

Has anyone tried the 215/50-16 Firestone Firehawk GTA 02? I've not been a fan of Firestone but they seem to be a pretty good deal and I could use them in snow.

Isn't that the same tire as OEM'ed on many SE Contours with 15" wheels. It did not get good reviews here.

Perhaps the GTA 02 is an updated, and maybe better tire.

I really like my Firestone FireHawk SZ 50 EP's, but they cost about the same as some of the other choices mentioned here.

You only get 22k out of your tires? I'd be a bit bummed about that as well.

I do admit the tread life of the KDW's led me to look at the P-03's. (I personally don't like Bridgestone or Firestone, but it's hard to argue with the P-03's performance)

I have ~24k on my KDW's and they are on their last legs.
