john i think it'll rub. you'll need a higher offset for the 8" width or willing to work the fender a little bit

...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

It should rub less than a 18x8 with 40mm's of offset. Too little offset, and it'll rub the shock or spring perch. It'll be pushed in a little more. And it really won't affect the width of the wheel. It'll affect the width of the cars track.

18x8 40 should most definitely rub. 7.5 40 likely will rub. 7 40 shouldn't. 7.5 and 42 shouldn't so 8 needs at least the next higher offset, again unless u r willing to work the fender a bit to make it fit.

The stock wheel is 6.5 inches with (IIRC) a 38mm offset. More offset brings the rim closer to the strut and there's not a lot of room there. Less offset brings the tire closer to the inner fender which can bring trouble especially if your car is lowered. A wider rim is means you must adjust/alter the offset to compensate for the additional rim width. Your 8 inch rim is 1.5 inches wider than stock. If the offset stays the same, the extra 1.5 inches will all go the outside of the rim. Got fender clearance for that?
