well...i wanted a good performance tire for a good price. i got a lot of mixed feedback on the kumho 712's. otherwise that would have been my choice. i don't autocross or anything like that. i hear they're bad in snow but living in NJ we really don't get that much snow...and besides, for winter i'll probably throw my stock wheels on just in case.
i've never really read anything too bad about the sumitomo htrz ii's. i even searched through the forums and found MANY complements on the tires. they have great traction, peerformance, tread life, and they're quiet (so i'm told). u can read some of the reviews for them on tirerack.com. i also checked in with a few local shops to get their opinion and prices. they all agreed that it was a good tire for my use.
