I haven't had this hard of a launch since I rode my big wheel at age 5.

That sux, cause I'm looking for a replacement for my AVS Intermediates. The Escta's were in the same price range so I was going to go with those. But if you say that they are poo poo...
Then I'll stick to the Intermediates even those they suck when it comes to longevity...

The Kumhos are wearing well, which sucks for me because I want them to go! They just don't perform well at all compared to several other high performance tires I've had. They're an econo performance tire at best. Find another tire with a 400 treadwear and not so wide of a center water channel. I'm missing nearly 15-20mm of rubber in that space that could have been touching the ground to get my car moving.
EDIT!!!!! The SP Sport W-10 is on sale in the 235/40/17 size at tirerack.com for $86 each on closeout!!!

I know! They've been out of production for over 2 years! I believe you and I got in on the last known batch hidden in a wharehouse in Cali... David was the 1 and only with these wheels for quite a while... IIRC, he was smart and got a spare just in case... Anyway, how bad is the gash? Does it still hold air? You might be able to get it repaired from one of those aluminum wheel repair shops...

I say jump on the W-10s. I had them on my BBSs and they gripped awesome. Simon can vouch for them as well, great tire for the money.
Tread rating isn't all that great at 220, but if they're THAT cheap...
