I am wanting to get some 17s. I was wondering how wide the rims should be and what size tire i should be looking for. Thanks for the help.

IIRC, probably best to stick with the a 17x7 if you plan to lower the car. 215-45-17 is the optimal tire size - which is what I have. Gator VR4 was running 17x7s with 205s (?) and he disliked it. Good luck!

AMEN! I ran 205/40-17 Yokohama Paradas and absolutley hated em. I liked the tire itself, but the 40 series ride was way too harsh. Plus they do a very poor job of filling the wheel well....

Alright that sounds good. I just wanna make sure. Any rubbing, grinding, or whatever else could go wrong in the wheel well happen with the wider tire? Thanks for the help

I plan on buying new 17" wheels in April-May. I am sticking to the 17x7 with a 40 offset. Tires, I plan on having 225/45/17. After much research, I found this to be the best combo for looks/functionablilty on the tour.

i found a wheel i like. 17x7.5 42 offset, will this be a problem. i want to run 225/45 or if i have to 215/45. i think the lowest (safest) offset to go to is 40. am i remembering this right.
can i run this w/ stock suspension. i plan on eventually upgrading to coilovers w/ konis, but can i get the wheels first or should i wait.
...and yes, I did SEARCH first before asking.

I'm running 17x7.5 with 215-45s and a 45mm offset. Plenty of clearance inside and out.
You should be able to run 225-40 with 42mm offset.
Any clearance trouble might be on the outside at the fender lips.
I believe 225-45s would be tto tall.
I recomend the 215-45-17 as a perfect fit. The 7.5 width and 42mm offset will give the 215's a much wider look.
