I'm not sure if this has ever been asked before, but I've never been afraid to ask a stupid question.

Does a set of mustang rims (87 - 93 model years) fit on a 98 Contour?

Physically they will bolt up. Definate clearence issues due to offset. 95MID, 79-93 mustangs were 4 lug, including the '93 cobra, but excepting the SVO.

Are the Superior Scoundrel Mustang knockoff rims still available? I remember a few members having them awhile back, and I LOVED them. But I'm unable to find them anywhere anymore.

I'm not all that knowledgable about wheels, but wouldn't a 17x9 18mm offset look riduculous on our cars? Also, wouldn't it cause damage on a front wheel drive car? Just curious.

I was looking at this. A set of Cobra replicas would look sweet, IMHO. The only problem is they are only running a 15mm offset. eek Granted the rims are an inch wider, but that means that the entire inch would be on the outside. Big no-no if the car was lowered at all or you ever carry anything in the back.

My friend and I were talking about this the other night. He has a `87 and we were thinking about putting them on the Contour and then letting the suspension do some slow flexing (entering a steep driveway at an extreme angle, etc). He would be on the outside so watch for clearange issues. We still haven't gotten around to it yet.

I had stock 87 t-bird wheels w/75series on my tour for a couple hours to get new tires. No rubbing problem, no problems at all with the fitment. Also I think if you had the hole thing re-aligned telling the tech what you did he might be able to re-adjust the camber to compinsate for the off-set

Where on the Whalentire.com site are 17X9 Cobra R rims for the Contour? I've been all through the site and can't even find the 16" version of the Cobra rims.
