Maybe I'm showing my ignorance, but what does the computer have to do with tire size? I have noted faster acceleration just going to slightly smaller diameter 215/50 vs. stock 205/55. i would expect 215/40 to offer even better acceleration while lowering the car. i realize it would screw up the speedometer and odometer reading but who cares if i get better performance at 51,000 miles with no plans to trade. I also realize that a 6.5 inch rim is not big enough for 215/40, but when constrained by stock autocross rules, I'm willing to give it a shot.
