It looks like I will only have money for either new rims and tires, or tires and suspension (new springs and struts). I have no choice as far as tires go, mine are shot and have to be replaced too. I had my heart set on new rims, but then I thought for a second and I was wondering if the car would look absurdly high with the stock suspension? I hve no problem with the stock rims I guess, and I think the car would look bada$$ lowered...I just figured I'd kill 2 birds with one stone getting the rims and tires at once. Decisions decisions....

Oh Great One. I just put 17" ASA6's on my Silver SVT, stock suspension. Looks great. The SVT ground effects give the car a lowered "look". I have no plans to drop mine, even though I dropped my previous two cars.
Lowering the SVT correctly is very expensive and will put stress on other suspension components.
Quoting "Car & Driver"..the SVT is the best handling front wheel drive car in America!
Why mess with that glowing praise.
If you go with 17s, use 215/45-17 tires. You'll be pleased, the car will "sit" perfectly and handle even better than stock.
Go for it! Life is short!

Actually he's right to a certain extent... More stress on hubs since your center of gravity is lowered, alignment, yadda yadda. Nothing to write home about I would think, but it's 'sorta' true nonetheless. However.... Quoting "Car & Driver"..the SVT is the best handling front wheel drive car in America!
Why mess with that glowing praise. Obviously you've never ridden in/driven in a car w/ the Aussie bar, Konis, and either H&Rs or Eibachs... John
