I'm buying a 99 SVt which needs new tires. Any thoughts on which ones, sizes etc?

Well The SVT rims are 16" stock. I HIGHLY recomend the Cooper Cobras!!! Thats what I have on my 15" and they handle great plus I have them with a H speed rating which goes up too 130mph. Plus they have Cobras on the sidewals of the tire which would accent your SVT. Thats my advice!

BFG KDWS 225/50/16. I like 'em, good grip, all season, W rated, 400 TREADWEAR rating. Great all around tire. $115 plus shipping at tirerack right now.

For higher performance - a lot of guys like the Bridgestone RE950. See the wheels and tires section.

i bought a pair of cooper tires (i bought the cheaper "viper")for the front of my mystique and they handle great. They look cool too with the angled grooves, and graphics on the side walls also. H speed rating, and low price, how can you go wrong. Oh yea, if you buy sear's road hazard service ($15 more), they'll give you a new set if you ever pop one (like if you run over a nail, go off roading, or take a turn too fast and have a blow out). laugh

Depends on where you are from too?

Are you going to be driving in the snow at all?

I've loved the Goodyear Eagle HP's that I just put on, and got them really cheap. H Rated too.

The Cooper cobra GTH are all season tires. They plow through snow and are great in rain and dry conditions. Cooper makes a whole Cobra line with everytype of tire you would want I picked the GTH because that was the one that worked best for me! Check them out.

Buy the BFG G-Force KDW 225/50/16's

Be hard pressed to beat their handling ability at any price. (outside of track tires)

Plus at $116 they are a steal at Tire Rack!!!

The only thing wrong with the KDW is that they are loud on concrete highways. If you don't care, then they are a great tire.
