Mike,
I was in the same boat as you. 99 SVT, #1329. Loved the handling, hated the noise. Kinda wanted something a TINY bit softer as well, and a tire that looked like it filled the wheel well every so slightly more.

The 225-50-16 KDWS do this perfectly. I've had mine since December, and it's been a joy. Noise is way down. Beefier rubber looks better on the rim I think.

Winters here in Ohio have been mild. KDWS is not a winter tire, but it's all I need.

KDW almost left me stranded one winter. I went skiing at Seven Springs, and the parking lot was slightly sloped, with packed snow. _BARELY_ did I get out of there, after much frustration. ;-)

No rubbing.

I's sold on the KDWS'. I'm about to go looking for new rubber and wanted the exact same things. Happy with stock rubber performance, less sound would be nice, need for all weather (plan go going back east.)

I won't say anythign about the BFG's you mentioned, as I have no experience with that tire particularly. But, as far as tires go, I'm sold on using TireRack.com as a reference.

You can go there and spec all the tires up next to each other, and see the rating of the user's in just about every category. It also lets other post reviews of the tires. Check it out. It's a sweet site and invaluable reference for all things tires.

I love my Contour to death, but my 'vette is still my #1 baby.

Yup, after more research in addition to this thread, I'm sold.

Tirerack has the best price I've found so far...LOL, Ford dealer wanted $605 for 4 tires, mounted & balanced. I can purchase those same 4 tires from Tirerack & shipped to my home for $490 + $8 per tire for mount & balance at the dealership for a total of $522 (makes the decision real easy laugh )

Thanks for the info everyone!
