I only have about $300 to spend on tires so I don't have the cash for bigger rims right now. So I'm probably going to go from a 195/65/14 to a 205/60/14. I'm looking at the firestone firehawhk sh30 Tire Rack has them at $60 a pop. Is there anyone out there that can tell me from their own experience which 205/60/14s are good and which are bad? I would like to know what you think before i blow $300.

I honestly can't say but a 205 is getting pretty big to put on a 14. It should fit but it'll be snug, anyone else tried this? I can't imagine there is anyway a 215 would fit. Stick with the 195 or 205. I can't safely comment on the firestones but I'm sure others will tell you what they think. Good Luck. laugh

I can tell you that a 205/60R14 is the biggest tire you can put on an OE 14" rim... Your better off to stay with stock size which is 195/70R14, but I see no problem with a 195/65R14...

I woudl stick with the 195s or just go all out and get some 15's or 16's. (It'll only cost 300 or 400 more anyway) A coupel years ago I got some yoko avid H4s. I'm fairly impressed with mine. Durabilty wasn't as good as the michelens it came with (at about 30k they are getting a little bare) but the traction is much better.

Since rims must be a minimum of 70% of tire width for proper fit, you can go with a 205 on 5.5" rims or a 215 on 6.0" rims. The width will be stamped on your rims somewhere, probably the backside ( 14x5.5 or 14x6 ). HTH. SH30's are great by the way!
