I did have a look at it, and did my best work out which wires in my harness did what - although my total colour blindness is a *slight* problem there wink

From what I could see, the connector for the standard clock is the same shape size as that for the trip computer, although there were definitely a few wires missing - from what I remember they were the ones from the Auxillary unit and should be an ouput from the trip computer, not an input - I've certainly seen cars with trip computers and not AWS, so it should be doable.

I'm almost certain that the feed from the Vehicle Speed Sensor was there, as was the feed from the fuel tank sender unit, so most of the 'important' stuff, i.e. instantaneous mpg, estimated range etc should work. Outside temperature feed was missing though . .

What I wanted to do was try a unit in my car before investing in one from Ford, but my intended source - one of the hire cars we use at work - was replaced by a new shape Mondeo before I had a chance - Doh !

If anyone could confirm that it can be retro-fitted, I would be very grateful.

Regards

Shawn

I'll do my best to get one in the junk-yard the next couple of days and plug it in...I'll let you know as soon as possible.

Just an FYI.. Any of you guys on this side of the pond wanting to try your luck with European salvage yards, over there them boys call them "breakers".

Another FYI... sometimes there are cool Mondeo parts on www.ebay.co.uk . I actually found one of these clocks/computers about a year ago. I emailed the seller and he said he didnt want to mess with shipping to the US. And it sold for dirt cheap.

Laters
DAvid
98 SE Sport V6 ATX
*use to have* Mondeo white faced gauges
and they read in MPH!

I know of a good UK parts source http://www.mondeopart.co.uk/acatalog/ I sort of know the guy so if anyone is interested I can give him a call from this side of the pond.

I've just got a reply from Fords for the price of the clock/trip computer new:- Thank you for you parts enquiry

description: Clock / Trip computer module (calculates fuel
consumption, outside temp etc)

price on this unit please.

if it is the tripminder in the dash £362.14 Inc

= approx $500

Ah yes, nice idea, but I've come across very the sum total of ZERO Ghia Xs / ST-200s in scrap yards / breakers. Sorry, I don't think you'll have much luck there.
