Maybe I'm over-thinking things, but:
Does it matter where tires are stored? I was going to put the KDW's in the garage for the winter, but then I got thinking about moisture and stuff. Is a warm, dry place better? How about stacking? Is it o.k .for a tire to be stacked on it's side for four months of the year? Am I crazy for thinking about this stuff?

Ideally, you want them in you house, warm & dry suspended and no rubber touching anything, 1/2 pressure. But I've always stacked them in an unheated garage or shed without problems. Dryrotting is the major problem but a set of tires don't last me long anyway.

You got me laughing, because I just did several searches for "tire storage" and "storing tires" and found nothing. I had given up, and then I came here. If you're overthinking it, at least you're not alone.

I've got my E1 wheels moounted and stacked in a nice dry place, unheated but it rarely dips below 40 here anyways.
Is this OK? They are stacked 4 high currently, prolly going to change to 2 soon though.

I've got two sets of wheels and tire in the basement. Each is in it's own garbage bag and stacked four high.
When in Germany, the tire store that mounted my winter tires gave me four bags (with their logo) to cover my tires. They were very similar to trash bags.

Thanks for the responses so far. My tires won't be on a rim, I'm using the stock rims year-round. I think I'll probably put the KDW's inside in a closet or something- I was just worried about moisture building up in them, as well as distorting the profile (if that's possible) from stacking.

You also want to keep rubber away from electric motors or anything else that can generate ozone. Ozone rich air degrades rubber, causing it to weathercheck or crack. That is part of why a bag is useful. That is also why some new tires used to come wrapped.
