I believe, according to Johns first post, this discussion originally was about 17" tires. I assume it still is...John did you get new wheels?

I was at a Bridgestone/Firestone store yesterday and saow the RE730, RE910, RE950, and the S03. For Mr. Moneynoobject Plance1 (j/k) the S03 is the top pick and it looks sweet.

I just picked up the RE940 (UHP-A/S) from COstco..
I couldn't pass up the $113(x4) - $50 coupon..

I'm wondering why no-one else mentions this model.. But here are my thoughts w/ 50 miles on them..

Much QUIETER than the KDW they replaced There was cupping and a slow leak in one of the KDW's when they were replaced.. (possible tread separation / bubble after 40+k) However, the RE940 do NOT seem to have the same stability or handling than either the GS-C or KDW. (Ofcourse i now have 98k on the car) and i did switch back from the 215-50 KDW back to the OEM 205-55

It is a tradeoff-- but after my experience in the snow in the KDW, I had to go w/ the all seasons. If i recall, the GS-C weren't too bad up in vermont snow.
We'll see how the wet traction is today..

Plance,

if you're not really looking for high-performance tires, I'd take a long hard look at the RE950s. They have killer ratings, look good, 400 treadwear, so they ought to grip decent, and should wear quite nicely.

If you want more of a performance tires, I'd either go with the S03 (dunno how loud they are htough) or the Firehawk SZ50s.

Oh, nope, these are for my Enkei's pictured in my signature.

I've still got the black E0 wheels with KDWs on them to rag on...

I just got the RE950s on my car a week ago and I'm lovin them......they do ride a little more firm than my old tired do, but the extra grip, steering response and quiet make up for it. Hope this helps a little.
