I asked my dealer for a mounting and balancing quote for 4 tires. They said 65$ total. That didn't sound too bad. Maybe a little high? What are the costs for a Tire Rack certified shop? Thanks

I've paid between $9 and $12 for mounting and balancing tires I've brought in. $65 is a little high, but it's the dealer so go figure.

A local shop does mine for $20 per set of 4, plus disposal fee and valve stems. Works out to $35 total, but I only trust them with my Blizzaks and steelies.

Thanks for your replies. I'll be using my stock rims so I want to make sure they don't get messed up. So far all I know to trust is my dealer or one of the shops Tire Rack recommends. What do the Tire Rack certified shops charge?

I had my KDW's drop-shipped to a local shop that was on TireRack's list and they charged $12.50 per tire. So, it comes to about $53.50 or thereabouts to mount and balance a set of 4 tires, including the tax.
This amount doesn't take into account any disposal fee for old tires, as there were unworn snow tires mounted on the car when I purchased it.

Thanks for the reply. On a side note. What are the chances that I will need an alignment done after installing new winter tires?

However, taking the old ones off will show how they wore. If they are worn evenly and your steering wheel centers and the car doesn't pull to ones side or another when you let your hands off, don't waste $50.

Well, in the 30k miles I have on my car I've had it re-aligned twice becouse it always pulls to the right. It still pulls to the right. I guess I'll just have to see if it gets any worse than it already is.(Which is as good as the dealer has ever gotten it)

Adrian, it is normal for a car to pull to the right while driving on the road. Roads are built so they slope to the right to shed water. Try finding a big flat parking lot, go to it when its empty, like at night, and see if your car pulls on a flat surface.
