We are probably going to route of picking up some 99 Contour SE rims and some Blizzacks on all fours.. would this be a good setup for the winter???

and store the SVT E1 wheels the summer and dry spring days..

confused

I think the quote for 4 1999 SE rims and Blizzacks come to a total of $850 CAN.

You can pick up a set of Steel wheels with the Blizzak MZ-02s for abotu $550 US. Check out Tirerack. The smallest you can go on a SVT is a 15", to allow for clearence of the rotor/caliper combo.

I love my Blizzaks, true my car looks like S*** for 3 months, but I guess if it stays in 1 piece that is all that matters, ehhh?

You might want to consider Nokian "Hakka" 1 tires for your car. (The Finns are possibly the only people who understand winter better than us Canucks.

With the mild Vancouver temperatures, you could get excessive wear. The Blizzaks tender to blister if the pavement is too warm. The Hakkas are what the rally folks out here in Ontario use.

I just bought a set of 4 195/65R15s on 15" steel rims for $900 tax included. Guys out here are getting 6 or 7 seasons out of there tires and swear by them. Check website www.nokiantires.com

No lie! the Hakka tires are the BEST snow and ice tire I've ever used. Bar none.

When it snows out here, the only cars on the road are SUV's and me with my Blizzaks. Haven't had any amount of snow stop me yet. I actually got 3 seasons of Dec 1 - Easter out of them, even with the relatively dry temperate winters in Philly. The last winter they wore down past the 55% mark, so I replaced them with a new set of Blizzaks. I run the Blizzaks at 29 psi. Kills my gas milage but they wear like mad in the center if I try to run 32 psi.

Get a set of Tire Rack's cheap wheel covers while you are at it. Looks a little better than bare steel wheels.
