Hey, thanks for all the replies!
-I'm pretty impressed with the BFG KDW's, 'cept for the noise, so I probably shouldn't be trying to cheap out on a replacement-

speakin of noise, I'm not a retiree or anything, but has anybody run anything quieter with similar performance???

I got 45K out of my first set, and that was with one day spent on a track. The tread life rating is 300 which is the highest I have seen for high performance tires. Obviously autocrosses and and track days will take thousands of miles off the life in just minutes of use.

Daveandrews, you've had 4 alignments? I had my alignment check twice in 48k miles and I haven't needed yet. And that's in MI home of the '4 foot pothole in the middle of the interstate'.

20k on mine....i never thought i was one to abuse tires, but i've managed to wear out a set of goodyear eagle F1 steel's in 20k, my KDW's in 20k, and my first set of F1 GS's separated by 12k. i ordered another set of KDW's, though - can't beat the price for the performance, imho.

Att 44K miles I have one worn to the wear bars, one double the bars depth. Two extras at double the wearbar depth. and a final tire new last winter that is at 1/4 or less worn. I sort of bought 2 extra wheels and tires and the first winter put 2 new on in front. Then bought 2 new LAST winter, but only needed the right front.... (I don't rotate 'em) So my left rear got 44K and is worn down to the bars. So at 44K, each pre-Winter, (I drive with the tires in the Wisconsin snow) I have purchased 2 NEW tires, (4 new total)have one new sitting unmounted, and one ready for a replacement. (Am I just babbling here???)

I got about 15000 miles out of my first set on my Cougar. The second set went for about 23000 miles with rotation every oil change (3000 miles). They wear pretty fast. Perhaps it is my driving... :p
