I'm thinking of getting some crappy steel wheels without hubcabs and putting slicks on them so i can use nitrous in first gear on the track. Any thoughts?

I wouldn't be worried about the tires so much as your tranny. No doubt that you will crunch your diff using nitrous right out of the gate...ask T-RedSVT he has a nitrous kit and says he never uses it while in first gear. Only way I would even consider it is if you had a Bulldog Box with a quaiffe made by Terry Haines; even then i would err on the side of caution.

Just my $.02 though

Isn't wheel hop what causes problems to the differential? Thats the reason i don't shoot it in first gear now, well, in addition to the obvious traction problems...

Yeah that is the main part of the problem when it comes to launching a near stock powered car...but think about trying to launch a car that immediately adds 75hp and gobs of torque. That is a lot of stress on all of your trans just to turn the wheels anyways.

Personally I would look to spend my money elsewhere than slicks, but hey if you have money and aren't worried about your tranny go ahead laugh
