Yes the intake res is very hard to remove. I did it though and removed my bottom airbox and attached filter to top(it gets dirty but it helps). I definetly felt a small improvement and like the sound. I think removing the res is worth it if you have time, though I wouldn't just remove the air horn that attaches to box..all that will do is let more air in, that is made very hot by the engine, I don't think it'll help with performance. Mod your intake box...it's not that hard.
