Hello

Has anyone tried a 7 1/2" wheel on their Contour? Just wodering what offset you used and whether this rim width causes the dreaded tire touch. I am hoping to use 215/45/17 tires too.

TIA for your responses.

I had 17x7.5 BBS RX wheels (same on the gold
PPG Pace Car in the gallery) with a 35mm offset, and I wore the insides of my tires
within 5k miles. They basically went bald.

Too low of an offset, and them being 7.5" didn't help. I would go with 7" just for
good measure, and a offset higher than 40mm.

BTW, the tires wore out even before I got
my car lowered. Now I'm running a 7" rim
and a 40mm offset. Tires still wear quick on
the insides, but not NEARLY as bad as with
the BBSs.

Hope this helps.

John

The choice for 7 1/2" wheels is a forced one. I am looking at getting Team Dynamics RIM2000 wheels and they only come in a 7 1/2" width.

I would prefer 7" and a 40mm offset, guess I'll just have to keep looking for a 7" wheel that I like. I am primarily looking for a 5 spoke wheel. Any suggestions?

TIA

My 18's are 7.5" width with a 43mm offset. No rubbing even with my 2" drop. laugh Oh, the rubber is 225/40 Toyo T1-S.

When I first saw your SVT, all I could say is WOW. Problem for me is getting these wheels in Canada. It's hard to Konig's in this area and I was told by our supplier that this wheel has been discontinued. Whether that is true or not, your wheels were my first choice.

Very nice package you have.

HTH,

HTH, that is very good news. I was given the choice of a 45mm offset. I suppose that should be reasonable as not to touch the struts.

Thanks for the info.

a 7.5 inch wheel with a 45mm offset gives about the same effective center as a 7 inch with a 42mm offset.

:p Uuh, the HTH meant "Hope This Helps"... Hehe wink wink

Chris, we didn't check the back clearance with the strut when we mounted the wheels as I have the GC coilovers... plenty of room there. My gut feeling is that you'd great with 45mm offset on a 7.5" wheel though.
